which后面的从句主语是babies, 因为主语及谓语相同的情况之下，若不产生歧异都可以省略。省略之前的句子应该是more babies were born to women over the age of thirty than (babies were born to women) under it. 括号的地方都省略了，只剩born没省略很奇怪所以排除了。这是我的理解

但是，如果括号里面保留一部分，可以怎么作呢？

那就保留主语跟谓语吧à保留babies were，但是有点啰唆就是了。
