Either: an individual from a group; an element from a set; etc. In this regard, EITHER, more or less, can be replaced by EACH. usually, whether the noun/noun phrase following OF is of the singular meaning, the verb should be SINGULAR. e.g.
Either of students in the class likes a quiz. Either of the evidences ottained so far has convicted the suspect of murdery. In academic writing, unless I am lucky enough to read an article read and edited by an academically liberal editorial, most time I can only find such an expression in an article. Of course, tabloids are exempted. |
