It is parents who give birth to us. They are the first people whom we live with and spend most of our childhood with. They teach us walking, speaking and eating. They teach us everything that is basic to be a man. While appreciating these, I have to say that they may not be the best teachers for us.

As first teachers of children, Parents are responsible for the formation of the characters and habits of children. What they do and what they say will set an example to their children who may imitate the behavior with no sense of why. I have a relative who is addicted to beer. His child, a lovely three-year-old boy then, followed him and got addicted too! Without knowing that bear did harm to infant, the boy just saw his father keep drinking bear and thought it tasty. So inappropriate behavior or bad habits of parents will mislead children, but unfortunately, not all parents pay enough attention to it. This is one of the disadvantages of family education.

Even if the parents are careful enough to avoid being bad examples to children, their lack of education experiences still cause some problems. Some parents impose their thoughts on children. They make the plan for children and do not care the feelings of the executors. A friend of mine once told me, when she was an elementary school student, her parents forced her to play piano at least one hour per day and sent her to an adolescent art training center on weekends to learn painting. Her parents wanted her to be excellent at fine arts which she had no interest in at all. She consider that period as a torture.

Another problem is parents can not teach children systematically. Considering rules of child psychology, teachers, professional trainers, or professors may use a myriad of teaching approaches, such as games, case studies, or experiments, making the teaching more interesting, interactive and impressive .In addition, they also impart knowledge step by step, from easy one to difficult one. But, parents may teach children at random, not much more logically and systematically than teachers, professional trainers or professors. Hence, parents are not best teaches in that they are not at home in teaching methodology.

All the parents do to the children are based on their love. No parents intend to hurt their children. But they are not expertise at education or have some problems themselves. That is why we need teaching profession and we do not regard parents as the best teachers.
