谢谢！找到了你在30楼的帖子，问题2也解决了。 不过还有问题求助：

想到standford,是由于它的创业。有过两年创业的经历, 小打小闹收益不高就算了，接着去了一家咨询公司（2.5年）。创业之前是做了两三份不同行业的工作。以前的工作经验在做咨询项目时还挺有用，能拉近和客户之间的距离，可在申请中频繁换工作的人是否会让人觉得没有明确的career goal呢？在essay 中谈及自己的career goal时，咨询或创业这两个目标那个更让人信服呢（其实两者我都想再尝试）？ 2nd round 和3rd round相比哪一轮竞争更激烈阿，BTW, 我的本科成绩不好也非名校，有很多70多分的，又是一个劣势吧，我这样的条件申哪一轮有点希望，还是都很渺茫？

if you are late for your rec letter, you will be considered as 2nd round. but don't worry. chances of getting in are pretty much the same in first 2 rounds.

the deadline is firm.

Hey, so this is a automatic process?   I would be moved to 2nd round without being told?  or I should request that to be done, would you be more specific?  thanks.

My recommender is overseas and can't submit the letter in time. Is that OK?

2nd round 和3rd round相比哪一轮竞争更激烈阿，BTW, 我的本科成绩不好也非名校，有很多70多分的，又是一个劣势吧，我这样的条件申哪一轮有点希望，还是都很渺茫？
    

Let me just say this.  1st round and 2nd round they probably take about 80% of the people, so rest they take from third round.  Of course then 1st and 2nd round you have more chance.  This is the obvious. 

Hope, there is always hope, depending on how much effort you put in essay, GMAT...  etc....  No one here can tell you what chance you have.  Unless he or she is a admission officer from Stanford and you posted the whole application including your essays on here for him or her to read. 

Everybody here is very smart.  I definately admit that.  Then you should know no one can tell you if you can get in or not.  If current student tells you that you have 20% chance, then what does that mean to you, are you going to give up?    These questions are useless..  Maybe you just want to hear"  Go for it, you can do it"  Then I say

是的，因为如果学校的招生规模不大的话，很容易招满。而且即使被录取，很多其他的安排如订宿舍什么的也会受影响。还是早做打算得好。

据我所知，stanford在第三轮招的人要远低于20%，因为多数学校都很重视yield，如果第三轮有太多人不来会极大的影响学校招生（第一轮和第二轮出问题还有补救的机会）。

第一轮和第二轮的比较我不确定，不过我个人认为第一轮应该大于等于第二轮，也就是说第一轮至少应该和第二轮一样好——前提是你的材料已经完全准备好了。

我也不确定。不过我的理解是，如果adcom读了你的essay对你很感兴趣，他们多半会愿意看看你迟到的推荐信。如果他们看了essay和其他两封推荐信然后对你不感兴趣，那么他们多半也不会去读那第三封推荐信了。

再次声明，以上纯属个人假设。

最后，我能理解你的心情。我的建议是，不要担心，相信自己的能力和实力。因为如果你是优秀的人，不上stanford你也还是优秀的人。成功的道路很多，学习的方法更多，一定要放轻松！

回答：我觉得你还没有理清思路。别人说什么都不重要，别人怎么做也不重要，甚至别人怎么成功也不那么重要，因为那是别人。你一定要看到自己的价值，你一定要看到自己经历的价值——如果你都不能找到贯穿自己经历的主线，别人怎么可能找到？而且如果你找不到，说明你对过去几年的思考还不够，那么“思考不够”可以成为你的主线。有了主线就有了方向，就有了理由，有了思路，有了故事。最让你自己信服的就是最让别人信服的。
