another question, does HKUST send e-mail to the applicant when they begin the application process?

I submitted online application form on Dec14,2006, and sent the hardcopy supporting documents on Dec31,2006. I checked the state displays the files have already arrived. Sending files exceeded two weeks will affect taking part in the R1 application? and I don't know whether adm com begin to look through my files.

It should be okay if the admisson office gets your supporting materials. Do not worry and prepare the interview. If you still have concern, you can contact ad office to confirm.

If applicants are strong, the first turn or second doesn't matter. And the first turn is usually better than second, from my experience.
