Why don't you post your question to Wharton and Chicago admission BBS to see what they will tell you? Then you have to combine with Kellogg's culture, and eventually evaluate good feedback in your file.

Dear Sinocheetah,

 

I would like to share my knowledge here.

 

Self-revelation essay should have a distinctly different tone than other essays, where opportunistically making yourself is the rule. Here, your goal is not to sell the admissions committee or make polemical case but simply to be yourself – you are an amiable, balanced, mature, and interesting person. Personally I think this essay is the worst possible essay in which to tell school what you think they want to hear. No matter how facile a writer you may be, I don’t know : ) admission officers will spend their entire career “time” reading between the lines, sifting out the real from the bogus. Ha… If you try to fake them out, you won’t win. BE YOURSELF!!!

 

Based on this Kellogg’s essay, the following is an example:

 

A)    Sinocheetah’s academy record

B)     Performance of the GMAT

C)    Career progress

D)    Extracurricular activities and community involvement

E)     Summary

 

Note: Uses meaty examples rather than hard-sell rhetoric to make compelling case for admission.

“Evaluations, hmm. Does that mean the kind of objectivity your grandmother provides? Definitely not. Clearly you are trying to market yourself so you should emphasize the positive and provide a cogent argument for acceptance using Kellogg's criteria, but most of you will have weaknesses in your profile. What compensates for them? Why should Kellogg admit you despite your weakness? This is a great place to show why a substandard GMAT or GPA should be overlooked.

In general you want each essay to reveal something new about your experience. How can you do so with this question, which by its very nature requires you to use the information found in other parts of your application? Include at least one or two elements that you either discussed in your interview or intend to discuss in your interview. Or go into more depth about something mentioned in an application box or your resume, but clearly this essay is not going to provide a lot of new information.

Someone recently asked me about the first sentence in the question. That sentence implies you should pretend you are an adcom member and evaluate your file. Don't ignore that intro.”

这篇是要你从Adcom的立场上评价自己的申请材料，千万别把角度写错了。所有的结论都要基于你的application package，不要联想，不要引申，尽量pretend to be neutraland objective.

这是我见到的最难写的题目之一。
