其实我一开始也选了A，但是现在觉得C对，原因如下：

不选A的原因：对economic outcome的理解模糊. “they saw cheaper food as a valuable
            end in itself” "cheaper food "改写为“economic outcome” 太牵强。

选C的原因：大家的争议在于文中没有提到"widespread consumer protests", 但是通过全文的阅读，Line25 “seized the opportunity and quickly organized an extensive series of cost-of-living protests designed to directthe women’s movement toward Socialist goals”；Line44 “it led women into the struggle for suffrage”；说明socialists扩大了protest的范围，即"widespread consumer protests"有了根据。并且，文中最后一段用了转折，重点说明women的protest的目的更narrow，就是在food上。所以我觉得C更好。

inferrence题就是要对原文合理的改写，而A的改写太模糊了。
