good question.  from Piggy.

I do it for passion, I want to find a job I will love and put 100% in.  If I have no passion in my job, I am a person who just get by each day.
I already make 80k+ each year.  But it is not the money, it is about how I want to spend my life.  I am still young and want to find a job that suits me.
Realistically, I think with the 2 year spend in MBA, I can get to $100K a year in the Bay area, but that is not what I want.  I really live poorly and find what I am
looking for.

I am living in a small town and very low cost area. If I moved to Bay, I would ask for 100K  with my current tech level and experience.

I want a MBA degree, because I don't want to work on the bottom of the engineering pyramid. But, will a MBA or MEM degree move me to the top of pyramid. There is no warranty. No manager owns a MBA degree from a top 10 MBA schools in my current working place. I might think about a shortcut to manager level. Will it work?

There is another question bothers me a lot. It is easier for me to get a MBA degree from an average university. As everyone knows, if I work full time, and study part-time, company will cover all the tuition cost. I can earn money and pay nothing for a MBA degree. Do I want to do that? ... Yes. Two years hard study, I would rather spend in a top 10 MBA school. Then, I have to leave my current job, which I love the most. I like Kellogg, and it is not very hard for me to find a job in Chicago.

Keep current job and go to an average school? Get a job in Chicago and go to Kellogg? This needs to wait until I am admitted by KELLOGG.

You are right, there is no guarantee that you can move to the top after MBA, of course, a MBA from a top school will help, but not for centain.  For me personally, I plan to take a pay cut after MBA(hope not, but ready).  I just want to do the work I like,  that money will be enough for me, for us.
I am just saying, do what you like the best.  Too many of us compromise our job for the money,  I made that mistake, but don't want to make it again.

I do think after a good MBA program in Management, or even an ok one will get you a manager job,  I would doubt it would put you on the top of pyrimid right away, which is a good thing, you wouldn't have the experience to handle it.

I suggest you to quit your job and get in a TOP 10 MBA FT. PT MBA is nothing but a piece of ST.

PT  MBA's degree is  the same as FT's

in your MBA degree, they will never indicate whether it is a FT or PT one

it is just XX school's MBA

that's all
