请教GWD17-Q12没有讨论连接

给的答案是C ，为什么呀？查了下字典，发觉except for有固定用法，但是没有except in 啊？另外，except可以做conj，那是不是A/B也可以考虑？请教大虾

而except与except for表达的意思是不一样，这点要看准。

2.如果去掉but就缺少转折意思。

如果说是因为连接词的关系

那么
  except 可以当介词  动词  连接词

这里不能做连接词?

  C因为but 转折语气在这很重要?

在这题目里面其实并不是区别except与except for

except与exceptfor的用法区别:

1)Except后排除的内容与主语往往是同一类的,而except for后所排除的内容与主语往往不是同一类的。例如,试比较:

All the buildings are excellent except this one.

All the buildings are excellent except for their location或者All the buildings are excellent except that the place on which the buidings are built is notgood.

这里用except for是说得过去的

其实D错误是因为，D中是excepting，是动词ing的形式，那么逻辑主语是language, 这里是不符合逻辑的

如果excepting，做介词的意思讲，词典这样解释

USAGE: The use of excepting is considered by many people to be acceptable only after not, only, always, or without. Elsewhere except is preferred: every country agreed to the proposal except (not excepting) Spain; he was well again except for (not excepting) a slight pain in his chest.

所以需要用except做介词，选C
