i heard from friends in mckinsey that they worked till 1am most time. Their salary and working hours is similar to IBD, but bonus may be only 10-20% of IBD.

I don't know what kind of 咨询 you are talking about. Is it strategic consulting (mck, bcg, bain, bah, monitor) or management consulting (accenture, ibm, bearingpoint etc) or boutique consulting (specialized in certain area)?

i know a female chinese schoolmate with technology background enjoyed Mckinsey for internship. She said it's not difficult to pass the case interview as consulting firm need 'structured thinking' and she think it's similar to her prior programming work.

While another very excellent male schoolmate failed in all consulting firm though he has technology consulting experience. He said the main reason is that he is not creative enough to provide the right solution in interview.
