During the war, no black soldier received
the Congressional Medal of Honor, America's highest award for
military heroism. In 1991, however, President George Bush presented relatives
of Cpl. Freddie Stowers with what he termed a "long overdue" Medal
of Honor in recognition of Stowers's heroism on September 28, 1918,

我觉得C选项中 which was the nation's highest military award有了过去式意思不太准确,难道Congressional Medal of Honor现在就不是最高的军事嘉奖了吗?

Award: vt (award sth to sb)

The referee awarded
a free kick.

The judge awarded
substantial damages to the victims of the explosion.

She’s been awarded
a scholarship to study at Oxford.

Recognition:
to show official gratefulness for:

Please accept this
cheque in recognition of/as a recognition of
your services.

Overdue: adj. later than expected

Her baby is
overdue.

The train is 15min/long
overdue
.

3

the Congressional Medal of Honor是个奖的名字,

所以overdue的修饰对象应该是recognition, the recognition of their
outstanding bravery is overdue/later than expected.

  1. with错。
nation’s highest military award就是the Congressional Medal of Honor.

         Congressional Medal of Honor

  2.
  3. with 错。In recognition of搭配错。

  4.
Long-overdue in recognition of …变成

    the nation’s highest military award的同位语,逻辑意思错。

  6.
  7. the
nation’s highest military award for long-overdue recognition of their outstanding

    the Congressional Medal of Honor

明显for their outstanding
         bravery
且for the recognition of 搭配错。

1.做名词

award: n. sth, especially a prize or money, given as
the result of an official decision

reward: n. (sth gained or received as) a return for
doing sth good or valuable

Award: an award of
S$5000 to those injured in the explosion

            The
award for
this year’s
best actress went to Maryl Streep.

Reward: As a reward
for
passing her exams,
she got a new bike from her parents.

I don’t expect anything in reward; I did it because I enjoyed it.

The police are offering a big reward for
information about the
robbery.

2. 做动词

award: v. (award to) to give, as an official decision

reward: v.
            (reward for/with)
to give a reward to someone or for an
action

例句:

Award: The referee
awarded a free kick.

The judge awarded substantial damages to the victims of the explosion.

She’s been awarded a scholarship to study at Oxford.

Reward: They
rewarded the boy with S$5 for bringing back the lost dog.

How can I reward your kindness?

The engineer who supervised the work
was rewarded with bonus.
