In theory, international civil servants at the United Nations are prohibited from continuing to draw salaries from their own governments; in practice, however, some governments merely substitute living allowances for their employees’ paychecks, assigned by them to the United Nations

B for the paychecks of their employees who have been assigned

news为单数,"that were sent by swift messenger" 变成modify shots

news of these shots?that were sent by swift messenger took four days to reach New York City and another eleven days

A?of?B?that不好判断是修饰谁的哦

A. companies (that compete one day) may be partners the next.

B. competing companies one day may be partners the next..   one day & the next

companies one day may be partners--ok

companies maybe partners the next-- 有点奇怪 but i guess i can live with it..

companies one day maybe partners the next?  -->no

Unless the transplant involves identical twins
who have the same genetic endowment all patients receiving hearts or other organs must take antirejection drugs for the rest of their lives.

one?和后面的the?next,the?next后省略了day

companies (that compete) one day may be partners the next??

(competing companies) one day may be (partners) the next?(day).

A 中 one day 修饰 competes. 所以是 companies may be partners the next. 哪种companies 呢? companies that competes one day.

但是变成副词 one day 直接修饰 companies. the next 后面省略 day 是没错. 你等于把 one day 和 the next day 划上等号.

one day = the next day

A 的话是. companies may be partners. when? the next day. what kind of companies? companies that competes one day.

所以画上等号的只是 companies & partners. the next day 点出时间

competes one day 点出哪种companies..

companies one day may be partners the next---> 对称是对到家.

Excavations of the Roman city of Sepphoris have uncovered numerous detailed mosaics depicting several readily identifiable animal species:  a hare, a partridge, and various Mediterranean fish.  Oddly, most of the species represented did not live in the Sepphoris region when these mosaics were created.  Since identical motifs appear in mosaics found in other Roman cities, however, the mosaics of Sepphoris were very likely created by traveling artisans from some other part of the Roman Empire.

Which of the following is an assumption on which the argument depends?

  1. The Sepphoris mosaics are not composed exclusively of types of stones found naturally in the Sepphoris area.
  2. There is no single region to which all the species depicted in the Sepphoris mosaics are native.       无关
  3. No motifs appear in the Sepphoris mosaics that do not also appear in the mosaics of some other Roman city.
  4. All of the animal figures in the Sepphoris mosaics are readily identifiable as representations of known species.
  5.  There was not a common repertory of mosaic designs with which artisans who lived in various parts of the Roman Empire were familiar.
