For Q27, I agree with the answer B

Women’s economic activities had become less varied by the end of the century; men’s economic activities had become more varied.

 

Firstly, because the passage states that,

in fact, both the absolute numbers and (15) the percentage of adult women participating in civil cases grew steadily throughout the eighteenth century

The part which is highlight means “the women’s economic activities did vary, but less dramatically compared with those of men.”

 

Secondly, from L42 of the passage, it states that women remained for the most part outside the new economic and legal culture of the eighteenth century.

   Again, it proves that although women’s economic activities remained the same for the most part, they had varied a little.

ACB    In this article, I think no sentences indicate that men's activities changed. I think  what they did was more various was due to the ability of creditors to buy and sell prom-

issory notes.In addition, men's activities became increasingly  far-flung; therefore, we still can not find any evidence that can prove men's activities changed.    Open to discuss. Thank you.

27我选C,争论的关键在于对less varied的理解和对比较对象的误解.

我的理解B是说the kinds of women's economic activities were fewer at the end of the century than they were before.但这是与原文相背的. 要注意到是两个不同时期的women's economic activities相比较,而不是women's economic activities和men's economic activities比.
