基本打算去了。可是奖学金太少了。只给了5k。

你们都拿了多少money？

Second, no offense here, but have some doubt on its job prospects.

As much as 40% of students do not seek employment or provide no information, so can you infer sth from the figure? I remember another CDer wrote an article about his trip to the school and he was told most of the international students go back to home country looking for jobs. And because it does not provide much scholarship, you defintely should confirm with chinese students there to make the decision.

i have a friend who graduated from UIUC last year. He is planning to come back to China for work. I am reluctant to ask his salary, but i know that should not be much. He is complaining abt his postion, doing all those kind of labor-intensive jobs, and the fact he can only find a job in a local Indian company.

I graduated last year from UIUC and have something to clarify

There were 11 Chinese students graduated last year, including me. 3 of us went back to China and all got very good jobs. The remaining 8 already found jobs in US by Feb, 2006. They are all over the US now. I think it's a common problem for international students to find a job in US. Considering the high percentage of international students of UIUC, it is understandable that why the employment data is comparatively low.
