ESSEC VS ESADE

ESSEC in France( Suburb Paris)

ESADE in Spain ( Barcelona)

which one is better?

I was told ESADE is better, but Spain is worse.

what do you think? your advice and suggestions will be highly appreciated.

If I were you, I would choose ESADE. But it depends on your career choice. If you are quite ambitious and wish to go to USA one day, to learn some spainish will be certainly useful. But ESSEC is also a good choice, in France it is a school with a nice reputation. BTW, I have studied during one year in France and I miss these days so much, but I should say Spain is also a very beautiful  country, better than you think. So make your choice not on the base of the two countries.

It is really tough choice. I prefer the life and culture in Europe than in US. That is why I am choosing between ESSEC and ESADE, while I have also got the offer from Univ. of Minnesota. So I might not be that ambitious, and I would be glad to stay in Europe, given that a satisfying job could be found. To a girl like me, a nice job and enjoyable life is of great attraction.

If possible, will you please give some further information and suggestions? I would really appreciate it.

Since ESADE is in Barcelona, I guess Catalan is supposed to be more popular than Spanish. So it might not have the advantage of language consideration. But it seems the migration policy of Spanish goverment is more positive than that of French government.

Most essential to me, how good is the school ESADE exactly, compared with ESSEC? Since I personally love Paris, I am looking for enough reason to choose ESADE over ESSEC.

As for working permit, it is same for France and Spain.

For a non-EU graduate, it is hard to get a working permit in EU states. Because the employee must prove that there is no EU citizens qualified and applied for this post before employing non-EU applicants. I heard a few stories of giving up because of working permit.

One exemption is UK. They will automatically qualify the graudates of 50 top business school graduates to work in UK.

只要你希望留在法国, 基本上就可以留下来. 我指的是有高学历又不差竞争力的群体. 其实法国对工作许可的发放在欧洲不算严的吧. 西班牙的情况本人不了解. 但觉得学校在哪这点重要, 有关当地的经济发达程度,就业市场,国际化指标等等.
而且我想对于PHD来说, 要看这个项目本身的质量, 应该有不少国际交换的机会. 不是说你在哪儿念完就一定在当地就业.只要你多一门欧洲语言, 在欧盟他国就业的机会还是挺多的.

关于学校的比较： 参考Financial Times 2006 MBA ranking,及Doctoral Program的排名

ESADE是一个上升非常快的学校,2006世界排名27,与杜克的商学院并列;
国际流动性排名15,也就是说毕业后去他国的可能性非常高,获得承认的可能性也非常大;
博士项目排名55,与密歇根的商学院类似
而ESSEC因为体制的不同,并不在榜上,但与ESADE相差还是比较大的
虽然ESSEC也是法国第三，在法国知名度很高

Barcelona是很不错的城市，发展和开放的程度很高，但说的是加泰罗尼亚语而非西班牙语

我个人比较倾向于去法国，可还是有很多顾虑

法国找到工作首先要可以说流利的法语，加上保守的移民政策（最长的似乎是10年居留权），不是很乐观
如果在法国以外，ESADE认可程度会高很多，且西班牙移民政策也较积极（大赦当地工作5年基本可获长期居留权）

另外，巴黎物价实在太高

For working permit, I guess you are right, though concern is about the permanent living permit( please refer to my post above). If I would have to go to UK for job hunting, then ESADEshould enjoy stronger reputation and better popularity.

However, Paris is of great attraction....

In fact, I have just got the offer from ESADE.The difference to me is that I will have to come back to China(maybe Hongkong) for family reason. As I focus on finance( Investment Banking), I am not so sure that Whether ESADE is strong in Finance though it claims to be. Another hesitation is that the tuition fee is more than EURO 50,000 for the 18 month MBA program, expensive for us since there is no much schoarship.

I know an alumni of ESADE, who has just graduated in 2005 and found a job in GE in Guangzhou, very nice job. But, I got know information whether any alumni  work in Finance industry in Asia or China( Hongkong), maybe it is not so strong in Asia?

Mary, the associate admission officer interviewed me. she is really a very very nice woman and even can say some Chinese and write. She and ESADE impress me greatly. Barcelona is attractive to me, but still i am hesitate and willing to talk more with u, my MSN is: wind_brother(A) hotmail.com
