发表一点想法，不一定成熟，供大家参考。

我们经常会问中国MBA有多少去投行或咨询公司的，看了这个贴子后，我在想，中国的现实情况和美国不太一样，用进投行或咨询业的人说来说明可能会误导申请者。其实中国近期缺的更多可能是在企业里的高级职业经理而不是投行和咨询人员。从长江几个薪水比较高的来看，很多并不在咨询或投行，而薪水和职位可能更高。

投行和咨询业的发展和一个国家的经济密切相关，美国制造业已经比较成熟了，需要进一步发展，因此需要做产业整合，并购重组等就比较发达。因此HARVARD, WHARTON每年招800人，很多还是可以去这两个行业，中国一年能进比较好咨询公司的一共也没多少，需求有限。中国产业整合刚刚起步，需求不是很大。当然今后三五年发展会比较迅速，而且中国的MBA教育也成熟起来。

个人认为，短期内咨询与非咨询在薪水和发展上可能差别不是那么大，而且咨询业也会招资深的行业专家，在企业做好了，也是咨询业寻找的对象。申请者应该根据自己的情况选择学校和职业，不必拿别人或其他国家的情况来比较。

how about the MBA graduates from HK[like HKUST or CUHK]

does it mean guys from HKUST/CUHK has less opportunity to go to consulting firm? [due to HK consulting industry capacity, or program direction[HKUST is good at finance i heard], or other reasons to be taken into consideration...]

Anyway, just one question here, if graduates from HK is less competent than from CEIBS...[i believe not, just raise it out here...]

I have no idea about the placement of HKUST MBA graduates in consulting firm, but I heard that one undergraduate from HKUST Finance Engineering major got the offer from Mckinsey HongKong office, and the pay is about 20W US dollar per year, very very high, and higher than most top10 MBA graduates.this story is definitely true, you know, many undergraduates have more potential than most MBA graduates, we are a little older than them.

and As I know, the competetion for HongKong office and Mainland office is not on the same level, because HongKong office hires fewer people and many top10 MBA graduates come back to HongKong, you will encounter more global competitors in HongKong, in this sense you will have less opportunity to go to consulting firms, even finance firms

IBM、Mercer、凯捷、德勤等，有十几个人，背景很多样化。

要是〈30去CONSULTING非常好，锻炼和提升空间很大，〉30就算了把，太辛苦。咨询都干不久的一般3/4年肯定转了，现在实习的单位VP还是以前咨询公司的中国区CEO呢。
MERCER快成中欧人天下了，呵呵，从接近PARTNER的到下面的快10号人了都，公司不错（可上回来做宣讲时小册里竟然有N多错别字，呵呵）
凯捷就算了，素质一般给的还少建议不要去

咨询是不错的行业，先进入。麦肯锡第一年对国内的MBA也就三十多万。
