"supplement" means close the gap between the expenditures required by "comfortable life" and the pension.

If and only if the pension exceeds the requirement can the elders be better off, if not, their life keeps unchanged at the comfortable level

請問為何(D)不對
補助款增加時恰逢貧窮的老人人數創新高
因此20%增加的補助款無法使老人生活更富裕
我覺得很合理呀??

1.the government of Runagia decided two years ago to increase by 20 percent the government-provided pension paid to all Runagians over 65.
2.the increase has been duly received by all eligible Runagians

是每個65歲以上的老人都能分到20%增加的補助款 還是所有老人一起分攤20%的補助款
如果是前者 也許可以選E 因為D變成無關選項 人數增加不會影響每人分攤的金額
如果是後者 D應該比較好吧
但是題目只說"all Runagians" 所以我傾向選D
