这个句子我查找了朗文distinction的用法，在第3个释义中：
distincition表示“不寻常”“独特”,表示描述某个事物独一无二的特征、特质
E.g:The US enjoys the dubuous distinction of being the lawsuit capital of the world.
美国享有世界诉讼之都的“美名”。

单独列出来的是这样一个词组：have/earn/achieve the distincition of doing sth.
E.g:At that time, it had the distinction of being the largest bridge in the UK.
那时候，它的独特之处在于，它是英国最大的桥梁。

不禁联想到
Ron在视频课中讲过：
Noun prep Noun doing，如:There is no evidence   of          my brother   stealing the candy.是有问题的，因为stealing成为了modifier，不是句子重心。
                                                                Noun     prep           Noun        doing
所以在这种情况下用There is no evidence that my brother stealed the candy.才能表达句意。名词不能够表达一个句子的含义。

而在Cooperative句子中  distinction of      being dwellings
                                         Noun    prep       being....（在句意上是一个句子，表示：Subjective是........）
这里很特殊 用being .....来表达一个句子的含义，因为我需要描述的是主语的特征：它是.......，如果没有being，那么句意也改变了

如果说将being去掉，就变成了Cooperative apartment houses have the peculiar distinction of dwellings that must also operate as businesses.
是不是就变成了Ron所讲过的错误，用名词来代替一个句子？这是错的

把它当成是一个固定用法idiom记最好，因为distinction表示差别、区别是一般是：distinction between A and B
have distinction of doing/being 表示有特质，表示特征。

还有需要注意的是，being .....是在做modifier的时候被判作有误，但是在做主语，动词现在时时态是没有问题的
现在我又知道了在这个词组中，of being ....作为一个prep modifier 也是正确的。
