Japanese companies in U.S are quite Americanized, no seniority system at all. If your previous working experience is relevant to companies, the pay is pretty much align with the market. For one with a MBA from a top school, it is better to look for a U.S company. But for someone with a MBA from a shool ranked below 50th, for someone go to MBA without working experience is can be a good option.
In general, American who has a MBA doesn’t like to work for a Japanese company, so entering those companies is less competitive. As there are needs to communicate with parent company in Japan, and Japanese expatriate in those company naturally feel more emotional intimate with someone who can speak Japanese, so it can be a competitive advantage.
If you can, try to find some Japanese recruiting companies in your target area. They usually can make things happen pretty effectively.
If you don't mind working in Japan, suggest going to Japanese Boston Career Forum, many famous global companies, including all top IB and consulting firms recruit there. If you are good, you can get an offer in just 3 days. Very efficient. And the pay is good.
