A中的making的逻辑主语是techniques还是researchers？逻辑主语不清楚！

B感觉so that前的逗号不对

A的BY不好，这里应该表现出科学家利用了某一种技术的意思，所以用employing好。另外，making them用在句尾做伴随可能比较好，但前面的by没有体现出利用这个动作，所以用的也不合适。

B的with表拥有，不好。

接下来在CDE中挑选，D中的which指代句子，错；C中的employ和used重复了，冗余，另外，so that they are我也觉得怪怪的，但具体什么错误我说不上来；E用for来引出techniques的作用，很好，that分句限定修饰techniques来引出可能造成的结果，很清晰。我觉得这里的them不存在指代的问题，很明显的指代plants.

以上说法个人意见，欢迎大家排砖。

查了Nature上面，一些学术著作都是用 techniques used to .....

...did not turn out this way. Instead, OR became identified with a set of quantitative techniques
        used to solve tactical problems in pursuit of rather narrowly specified...
