我认为前面一道中心词是mystic,可以做名词，mystic is the most....，XXX的日记透露出，他是一个神秘主义者，是那种男人中最平淡无奇和小心谨慎的神秘主义者，mystic 和后面的OMEN可以对应。

第二道，是习惯表达吧，如果完整了说是 THE FASTEST MAMMAL OF MAMMALS,啰嗦，所以省略了，而且所有选项都是一致的表达，所以不对选哪个造成迷惑。

因此第一句话也表示this most bland and circumspect man of men, man被省略，

还有一个解释就是比如，the rich和the intelligent都是名词，那么 the fastest, or  the bland and circumspect 也可以做名词
