The price the government pays for standard weapons purchased from military contractors is determined by a pricing method called "historical costing". Historical costing allows contractors to protect their profits by adding a percentage increase based on the current rate of inflation, to the previous year's contactual price.

which of the folllowing statement , if ture , is the best basis for a criticism of historical costing as an economically sound pricing method for military contracts?

the government might continue tto pay past inefficient use of funds.

A The government might continue to pay for past inefficient use of funds

B The rate of inflation has varied considerably over past twenty years

C The contractual price will be greatly affected by the cost of materials used for the products .

D Many taxpayers question the amount of money the government spends on military contracts.

E The pricing method based on historical costing might not encourage the development of innoviative weapons.

the answer is A

WHY?

THANK YOU !~

Reason:to add price              Conclusion:to protect their profit.

A inefficient use of money from the government is not related to this conclusion

B inflaction is not related to this conclusion (to pay attention to the differences between  to add and to vary)

C material cost is not related to this conclusion (to pay attention to the differences between  to add and to cost)

D question is not relavated to this conclusion

E To add price is to protect the profit, but leads a bad result of not encouraging the development of innoviative weapons.

Thus, E is answer

Historical Costing

C because it refers to costs that are reflected in inflation
