In fact, I want to start a Yahoo group for Smith 2008. And we can invite more people to join in, not exclusive to Chinese. To do this, we may need help from the school to get their contact info.

Hi Xixi, school has a message board for admitted students. Right now the traffic is very light and it should pick up when the new semester approaches. We can start a thread for Chinese students over there. It helps all of us to get to know each other better and help each other on housing and a zillion things we need to deal in the beginning weeks.

After I started this MBA thing I have been very unproductive at my work. Now I need to buckle down and get the last part completed so I can enjoy a good summer before the school starts. BTW I started a thread for incoming Chinese students on the school's admitted board. Shall we move our conversations there? I want to know what is your plan for housing and maybe we can be roommates. Before I left DC on Sunday I drove to Silver Spring and really loved the environment over there.

From all my past experiences, I have to say I like this school indeed, but I haven't made my final decision for some reasons.

马里兰大学附近有三个主要机场, 各有利弊, 新生购买机票时可以参照权衡.

• Reagan National Airport (机场代号: DCA).
   
  这个机场与华盛顿城区仅一河之隔, 公共交通便利. 出机场就是地铁站, 换一次地铁就能到College Park站. College Park站距离马大校区步行约十到十五分种, 而且有马大提供的免费校车往返于校区和地铁站之间. 但是从马大开车去DCA要穿过华盛顿, 行车路线比较复杂. 从马大开车到DCA约须三十到四十五分钟, 坐地铁大约一小时左右.
   
• Dulles International Airport (机场代号: IAD)
  
  IAD在弗吉尼亚州境内, 有机场高速公路, 但要经繁忙的首都环城公路才能到达. 上下班交通高峰期交通堵塞很严重. 马大研究生院从2002年开始在八月中旬的两个星期中每天下午四点和八点在IAD机场各有一班专车迎接国际学生(详情见此). 但除此之外IAD的公共交通不十分适合初次来美的中国学生. 从马大开车到IAD正常情况下约五十分钟到一个半小时, 视交通状况而定.
   
• Baltimore-Washington International Airport (机场代号: BWI)
   
  BWI位于华盛顿和巴尔地摩两大城市之间, 有准机场高速公路, 交通也很很便利. 从马大到BWI开车约三十到四十分钟.
  

同学们可以根据自身具体情况, 选择一家机场而后购买相应机票. 一般建议自行来马大, 无需接机的同学选择DCA, 需接机的同学请选择其余两个机场. 如你到达的时间恰好是上下班高峰期(周一到周五早八点到早十点, 晚四点到晚七点), 请尽量选择BWI.
