Look at A: Whereas lines of competition are clearly defined in the more established industries, in the Internet industry they are blurred and indistinct, as companies that compete one day may be partners the next. I think it is really a problem of modifier place , but of "one day" not of "in the Internet industry". The only flaw of A, in my view, is that the "one day" will be easilly supposed to modify "compete". However, in fact, the author meaningly uses "one day" to modify "may be". It is not logiclly correct to suppose that "one day" is used to modify "compete" because, tesified by common sense, the competing status of companies should not just last "one day" but a relative long time.
