Popular literary satires on marriage had already landed on fertile ground in a multiethnic population,然后又说These ethnic- and class-based traditions themselves challenged the legitimacy of patriarchal marriage. Wulf probably overstates Quaker schools’ impact.

可见,作者要challenge/argue的不是a critique of marriage was prevalent among young women of all social classes这个fact;而是造成这个fact的原因,与Wulf强调的Quaker schools’ impact没多大关系。即,A所说的,argue against one aspect of Wulf’s account of how ideas critical of marriage were disseminated among young women in colonial Philadelphia.——the primary purpose of the passage.

                    in resistance to

            patriarchal marriage by exchanging

poetry critical of marriage, copying

verse into their commonplace

books. “? 请指点我一下,谢谢!

15题应该选A. E错。
E认为主要目的是在challenge Wulf’s conclusion that a critique of marriage was prevalent among young women of all social classes in colonial Philadelphia。 Wulf is correct that a critique of patriarchal marriage circulated broadly(也就是prevalent的意思), 作者主要是在反对
Wulf probably overstates Quaker schools’ impact。 同时这一观点也在文章最后再次repeat,“Quaker schools probably cannot be credited with instilling these ideas in the lower classes.”,而是These ethnic- and class-based traditions themselves challenged the legitimacy of patriarchal marriage。

Popular literary satires on marriage had already landed on fertile ground in a multiethnic

population that embodied a widerange of marital beliefs and practice" 是satires而非 poetry celebrated marital beliefs and practices that were in opposition to patriarchal marriage.

            opular literary satires

 (40)     on marriage had already landed

on fertile ground in a multiethnic

population that embodied a wide

range of marital beliefs and

practices.  These ethnic- and

 (45)      class-based traditions them-

selves challenged the legitimacy

of patriarchal marriage.

The poetry celebrated marital beliefs and practices that were in opposition to patriarchal marriage.

The poetry’s capacity to influence
popular attitudes was restricted by the degree of literacy necessary to comprehend it.

最后一句也恰好说明这点-had already landed on fertile ground in a multiethnic population(意思是诗歌等的文学讽刺作品早已在大众的沃土里根生), 即说明即使大众不能完全领会文学作品其深刻的含义,但是仍然可以popular received and be changed attitude

可流行与否并不是W的结论,我们看到第一段或者整篇文章是说这些作品的影响力,只有A中how ideas critical of marriage were disseminated与之相一致,
