（一）        NASA一直关注着人群。因此，它的DI探测器将会到达它的目标并不是一个巧合。按照传统，美国独立战争纪念日将在地球上放烟花庆祝。今年，多亏了NASA星际导航员的狡猾，天上也会放烟花。
（二）        DI的科学家希望，通过观察探测器部分撞击彗星时形成的陨石坑喷出的物质，能瞥见地球和其他行星形成的物质
（三）        天文学家对彗星感兴趣是因为它们比行星更简单原始。这两种类型的天体都是45亿年前由年轻太阳周围的气体和尘埃云形成的。然而，彗星被认为与那时相比变化不大，而行星则更大，因此更容易加热和融化，发生了重大变化。因此，彗星在某种程度上可以说是宇宙的时间胶囊
（四）        DI本身实际上由两辆较小的车辆组成，母船+子弹。子弹将与母船分离，开始向T1号飞船飞去的旅程，第二天就会撞上彗星
（五）        通过观察陨石坑是如何形成的，以及碎片的形状，科学家希望能了解彗星物质的硬度和多孔性。通过分析碎片的光谱，他们讲发现这些物质的化学成分。美国西部的业余观测者应该可以通过小型望远镜看到T1号在撞击过程中发光
