中文回忆:就是说在过去的十年时间里把cosmology和elementary-particle physics结合在一起有很多重要的发现。比如宇宙形成之后不久的spacetime和matter。TOE理论可以描述基础粒子之间的interaction。他们的结合甚至改变了科研的方式。以前天文学更多的是观察性而不是试验性,也就是说很少主动做实验,主要是用望远镜被动的观察;以前粒子物理使用的工具都是高能量加速器,现在宇宙学开始做关于基础粒子物理的预测。用很久时间才达到今天的局面,但总之就是预测性实验变得可能。Cosmology可以被称为真正的科学因为idea不光被提出还可以被检验,这和以前相比有很大进步。相反,望远镜可能最终被用来检验基础物理的ideas,只有big bang能被拿来检验粒子互换。
