个人认为A可以勉强成为答案，其它都有明显的缺陷，理由如下，这个命题是递进的命题，前一命题的结论是下一命题的前提。

More and more computer programs that provide solutions to mathematical problems in engineering are being produced, （是Fact 也是第一个前提）and it is thus increasingly unnecessary for practicing engineers to have a thorough understanding of fundamental mathematical principles .（这是第一个前提的结论，同时也是下一个结论的前提，因此可以当做第二个前提，虽然这只是这个命题中众多前提的一个，但它是一个完整的前提，而不是一个前提的一部分，因此C是不正确的） Consequently, in training engineers who will work in industry, less emphasis should be placed on mathematical principles（显然这部分没有加Boldface，但它显然是上一个前提的结论，同时也是后面结论的前提）, so that space in the engineering curriculum will be available for other important subjects. （这是整个命题的最后的结论，但显然并不是第二个结论，也许有人愿意把前面的结论看成与这个结论并列的结论，这样可以把它勉强看成第二个结论，但显然它只是第二个结论的一部分，因此个人认为E的说法并不是很准确）

感觉这道题出的并不是很好，几乎所有选项都有缺点，不是很完美。我选A也很勉强，但别的也有问题，希望大家再继续讨论。

觉得ABCD都象，觉得得票最多的E最不对。逻辑流程是：

如果（II）算结论，那么（III）和（IV）都能算结论，那也应该说：

The first is the first conclusion in this argument; the second is the third conclusion in this argument.

逻辑对不对，数数还是得数清楚，对吧？

觉得BD也可能对的原因是，BF1用一般现在时，不用一般推理中的will/would/may，可以看成一个和第一句话有cause-effect的并存的事实，因此可以视为evidence的一部分。

Why D is incorrect? I think the first is a subconclusion , to support the second conclusion. So maybe the first one can be called "evidence" of the second sentense? What is the difference between evidence and premise?

我支持(C) The first is the part of premise that the argument includes; the second is the inference that could be drawn from this passage；

逻辑关系如下：

More and more computer programs that provide solutions to mathematical problems in engineering are being produced（FACT或者EVIDENCE或者前提条件PREMISE...本题好像这三个概念都可以用在此，个人意见）, and it is thus increasingly unnecessary for practicing engineers to have a thorough understanding of fundamental mathematical principles(中间结论，同时也作为后面的总结论的推论前提). Consequently, in training engineers who will work in industry, less emphasis should be placed on mathematical principles（总结论）, so that space in the engineering curriculum will be available for other important subjects（总结论的延伸推论）.

第一个BF部分，我认为它起到承前启后的作用，既是前半段的果，有时候半段的因...可以算作PREMISE OF THE FINAL CONCLUSION.因为还是相对于最终结论的逻辑关系比较重要吧。

我觉得inference代表的意思是一种延伸推论的意思...它不是主要的结论...而是指在结论成立的情况下，会有什么状况发生，或者具体在本题中，就是少学mathematical principles后意味着什么，目的是什么...恩，是有更多时间学其他重要的东东...是一种推论，而不是结论...因为最后这句话和CONSEQUENTLY之前的那些信息没有推导关系，不能作为之前信息推出的结论...它只和少学mathematical principles有关。

如果去掉总结论那句话，从前面计算机软件越来越多、学基础数学原理的必要性越来越小，等信息，不能直接推出更多的时间可以用来学其他东西。所以最后一句话我认为不是CONCLUSION.

觉得E不好，(E) The first is the first conclusion in this argument; the second is the second conclusion in this argument.

好像很敷衍了事的说第一个结论，第二个结论...太简化太笼统了，没有层次的分析感觉。
