听说推荐信越长越好？

今天听一个朋友说，essay不要写的太长，但推荐信要长些，把所有的闪光点都放在推荐信里。是这样吗？我这个朋友举个例子说他见过某成功申请人一封推荐信超过五页纸，天哪！越想越不安。。。大家都怎么样？

That can't be true. The adcom do not have time to read novels.  The bottom line is, anything you submit needs to be concise and gets straight to the point. Whatever you want to convey in your recommendation letter, make it as obvious as possible.  The adcom's job is not to discover buried jems, so don't make them dig into a 5 page document to fish out what they want to see.  The person you mentioned who got admitted has to possess some unique strengths, but the lengthy recommendation is definitely not one of them.

这是谁说的，真是误人子弟，testtech说的很有道理，如果你搞个5页的recommendation letter,我保证那个看申请的人会没耐心看，反而失了推荐信该起的作用。
