two experiments regarding infants' response to music:
para 1: the first experiment tests how infants respond to outlining music tune in the background of western scale music. the results suggest that infants raised in western culture tend to learn to recognize the notes common to western music. (author shows a neutral attitude towards this point initially.)
para 2: the second experiment, in comparison to the first one, evaluate infants' response to outling tunes in the background of non western style music. it shows that infants could still have response to outlining tunes. therefore, it suggests that infant could respond biologically, rather than through learning. |
