1. The size of the moon's core is smaller than that of the Earth, in both relative and absolute terms, by radius or by overall mass. The assumption of astronomers is confirmed by the data collected by Lunar Prospector.
2. 1st way: minute variations in radios signal from LP => changes in craft's velocity while craft orbited the moom => inconsistency in the gravitational pull of the moon. => Gravity map => moon's core's internal mass and composition. 2nd way, the magnetic field is generted by the moon when it passes through the tail of the Earth's magnetosphere. The 2nd one confirms the 1st theory.
3. The size and composition of the moon's core are used for the understanding of the moon's origins. If the moon's core is proportionally similar to that of the earth => they developed as distinct entities. In actuality, the moon was one part of the earth: either the result of a major asteroid impact or the result of so-called centrifugal force.
