A
this is about idioms: specially/ because & because of /ablity & capability
about ambiguous pronoun
gmat will usually tolerate pronoun ambiguity if:
1) the context is obvious
2)the pronoun is parallel to the intended noun
3)the pronoun is not parallel to the other nouns
eg: take the pizza out of the box and put it (into the oven)-----into the oven means the context is obvious(pizza into oven); then take the pizza and put it is parallel!
*two ways to locate the subject of the verb:
1)mechanically----eliminating intervening modifier
2)context----just think about the literal meaning
*things that can't be subjects:
1)objects of the verbs
2)objects of the prepositions
3)subordinate clauses
*but when it comes to "X is Y etc", it's sometimes hard to tell which is the subject
solution: 1) if anything before the verb can be the subject, then that's the subject
2) if nothing before the verb can be the subject , then you have a backward construction eg: on the table are two cell phones.
*be suspicous of prep+noun+verb-ing
if the action is the intended object of the prep, then this construction is incorrect
is only correct if the noun is the intended object of the prep
e.g.:there is no evidence of my brother stealing the candy(语义错误)
i gave &5 to the begger walking on the street
