再看OG-249之有关criticize的理解

OG 298页第249题：

The primary purpose of the passage is to

(A) criticize a scholar's assumption and methodology

OG对A的排除所做的解释：

Choice A is not correct, which the passage mentions certain criticisms of Eisenstein's work, it is not her underlying assumption that are being challenged. Furthermore, the criticisms do not consititute the primary concern of the passage.

Longman对criticize的诠释:

1 [intransitive and transitive] to express your disapproval of someone or something, or to talk about their faults [≠ praise]:

2 [transitive] formal to express judgments about the good and bad qualities of something:

看来这里OG是认为第一种含义了,但是,在很多情况下,criticize有第二种含义(我记得就是在OG里面碰到的,但是具体哪道题目记不清了),其实,如果用第二种含义来理解criticize的话,(A)未尝不和(B)旗鼓相当.
