感觉还是这段话跟13题还沾边 It may be that males can use scarce carotenoids either for immune defense and detoxification or for attracting females.

哪位大仙讲讲呀,应该ETS不会这么恶心吧

作者的写法是个让步。老观点说是去吸引异性，那么新观点想打败老观点

他说：是没有错，可以吸引异性，但不得不去为免疫而活。

13题的C真令人费解，怎么就不能同时使用carotenoids呢？文中either ... or那段话，只是对males使用 carotenoids的目的做了两种推测，没有说就不能同时既提高免疫力又增加吸引力呀？

大家看这句话，user fewer for fighting disease and will advertise ...

use fewer不意味着不用。怎么能说cannot be used simultaneously to brighten coloration呢？　我还是觉得Ｅ是正确的

虽然一开始错选了E，但是后来仔细读读文章和题目，就会发现其中的逻辑错误。

题目问的是the cartotenoids that a male animal uses for detoxification process，不是all the eaten and stored cartotnoids。前者限定了它的作用只能用来解毒，而后者没有限定作用，所以既可以用来解毒也可以用来诱惑异性。

再看文章的最后一句，那些免疫力天生很好的雄性动物会用他们(多余的,相对应fewer）cartotenoids来表现自己的免疫力强(advertise this)，也就说明了这两种用途不能同时由同一部分cartotenoids来完成了。

再不行，我们看文章开头部分，说明了这些被吸收的cartotenoids被储藏在不同的器官里，是否也是暗示不同的储备会有不同的用途呢？

E反了吧

虽然C是有点绝对，说动物解毒的同时就不能变亮（我硬翻译的），但是比起either or 的说法，无论如何也看不出解读的时候可以增加被雌性选中的机会啊。

反过来，如果E是减少这样的机会，我觉得E就比C更好了。
