# 76 answer= 1806.
I did a hard way.
assume each candidate only applied for one position.
Positions A B C
case 1: 7=1+1+5, 3 ways to rearrange 1 1 5, and C(7,5)*C(2,1) ways
3*C(7,5)*C(2,1)=126
case 2: 7=1+2+4, 3! ways to rearrange 1 2 5, and C(7,4)*C(3,2) ways
3!* C(7,4)*C(3,2)=630
case 3: 7=1+3+3, 3 ways to rearrange 1 3 3, and C(7,3)*C(4,3) ways
3*C(7,3)*C(4,3)=420
case 4: 7=2+2+3, 3 ways to rearrange 2 2 3, and C(7,3)*C(4,2) ways
3*C(7,3)*C(4,2)=630
total 126+630+420+630=1806 |
