*Prospective students who are applying to Tuck through the Consortium will receive two decisions; one from Tuck regarding their admission decision and a second from the Consortium regarding their membership decision.

**All accepted applicants who wish to reserve a seat in the incoming class must submit a nonrefundable deposit of $3,000 (which is applied against tuition).

***For applicants admitted in Round 1 Consortium, Tuck may name Consortium fellows either in December or in March. Any applicant awarded a Consortium fellowship in December must enroll by February 22, 2019. All other Round 1 Consortium admitted applicants must enroll by April 29, 2019.

Essay Questions

The essay questions provide you with an opportunity to articulate your candidacy for Tuck to the Admissions Committee. Please be clear, succinct, forthright, and thoughtful in your responses. Additionally, we ask that you share what you truly feel, as opposed to writing what you think the Admissions Committee would like to read. There are no right or wrong answers. Reapplicants should also complete the reapplicant essay. Tuck expects that the work contained in the essays is completely accurate and exclusively your own. Use of professional essay writing services violates Tuck’s admissions policies.

开始讲具体题目之前，我想先brief一下Tuck的变化。招生老大Luke去年从Stanford转过来后，进行了较大的改革，力争让录取流程更加透明。今年它明确说明了自己的4个招生标准，并在推荐信当中明确要求提供相关的佐证：

1.        Smart=intellectual ability and response when encountering the limits of that ability
2.        Nice= interacts with others (well) including when the interaction is difficult or challenging
3.        Accomplished=impact on your organization’s results and the behaviors that made these results possible
4.        Aware=recognition of your growth areas and response to feedback about these growth areas

Short-Answer Questions
简单直接的CG + Why school essay。字数要求你direct to the point，不要拖泥带水。一个完整的career goal通常包含[alwayshide]industry, function, location这三方面的信息，应该是和你过去的经历相关，有进步，又可实现的。要讲清楚你的goals怎么来的，可以先walk through过去的经历，解释清楚几段工作/role之间的联系是什么，你做决定背后的逻辑是什么，是什么引导着你这样一路走来，总结一下你从中分别掌握了什么transferable skill。然后说future goal，要解释这对之前的经历而言extension/progression体现在哪里，让读者看清你的整个职业的big picture。另外你的goals也应该和你的兴趣、性格、价值观有关。[/alwayshide]

1.        Tuck students are aware of how their individuality adds to the fabric of Tuck. Tell us who you are and what you will contribute. (500 words)
这是一篇化了妆的contribution essay,是表明why you的重要渠道。无论在课堂内外，好的contribution通常要满足以下几个标准：

1）        要有self-awareness，明白是什么定义了你，什么differentiate你。很多申请人会把自己的uniqueness局限在中国背景上，简单粗暴地卖“我了解中国”的人设，比如“我可以分享我们中小企业的痛点”。实际上，想有说服力，还应该挖掘得更深。比如同样和SME工作，从金融的角度和咨询的角度看到的东西就不一样。

2）        要有convincing track record，能给出solid evidence，而不是只停留在在夸夸其谈的superficial的层面。比如你说你想举办China Business Forum，你有过组织类似大型活动的经历么？你的角色是什么？以后能做出的具体贡献又是什么？

3）        要和学校、学生的需求匹配起来，这要求你做细致、up-to-date的school research。除了在已有的课程、传统活动、热门社团上添砖加瓦，你当然也可以创造资源create something new，但要有理有据，比如你想开一个关于区块链的club，你基于什么样的事实认为这个有必要且会受欢迎？不能只是一厢情愿的想法。

4）        要选对场合，越具体越好。比如一个讲Operation的课，你那些来自世界各地（但有大约60%的美国人）的同学们在什么话题节点上应该pay attention，听你说句话？忙碌的MBAer为什么要停下来、出席你发起的这个活动？ 对他们有什么好处？[/alwayshide]

2.        Tuck students are nice, and invest generously in one another’s success.  Share an example of how you helped someone else succeed. (500 words)
Develop others是leadership的内涵之一，invest in others实际上也是invest in yourself。每个人做这件事的motivation不一样，即使有好的初衷，具体过程也未必让他人很好接受。所以[alwayshide]这个文章框架可以说是典型的STAR+Learning，最重要是讲清楚你的action，最好不是一帆风顺的，你有所调整和改变，并从中收获了宝贵的经验。可以是工作之中或之外，可以是coach一个人也可以是一个团队。[/alwayshide]
