The fact is that a lot of graduates from these two places landed a job in neither Singapore nor Hong Kong except for consulting. For consulting, IMD has a quite promising base in Singapore and Greater China including HK.
In Industry, it is a different story. No company will pay you well just because you have a MBA. Basically the model for getting good pay job is Expat Package (i.e. you can hire in a high pay countries and the company moved you to another area). Around 60% of the alumni in IMD in these two areas are these types. We have a couple of cases (including my case) who were hired in Switzerland or Dubai but then relocated to Singapore and HK, then a couple of years they have to move to new locations again.
If you Only want to explore Singapore/HK chances and salary is your concern, only Banking/Consulting can pay you decently. Otherwise, the usual exit strategy is get the Swiss/Euro/Middle East pay and relocate |
