请教一个长难句

As she puts it in The Common Reader, "It is safe to say that not a single law has been framed or one stone set upon another because of anything Chaucer said or wrote; and yet, as we read him, we are absorbing morality at every pore.
书中将第一句翻译为：就像她在《致普通读者》一书中所表达的那样。。。
在我看来是不对的，as译为正如，就像时是prep，引导定语从句，而本句所引导的从句是一句完整的句子，因此as在这里应该是做conj引导状语从句，翻译为：依照她在《致普通读者》一书中所言。。。

不知我的理解是否正确，恳请指点。

还有一个问题：one stone upon another前面是否省略了not。因为翻译是：也没有高楼大厦被建立起来

第二个问题解决：not or是既不也不的意思，and的否定形式。It is b la c k and red. It is not black or red.
