因楼主有重度拖延症，现在才把上月20日的Duke活动内容整理出来。AO很nice，讲解的具体内容分为四个方面：The Fuqua Experience，Duke’s Daytime MBA，The Application Process，Q & A。Fuqua上海办公室的工作人员也对Fuqua East Asia——Duke Kunshan University做了简单的介绍，最后校友和申请人之间进行了沟通交流，文末附上优秀校友们的合影。本帖主要记录Duke Daytime MBA的项目和申请过程的介绍以及AO对申请人问题的解答，其他部分不作说明。楼主已经尽力整理的完整，难免有遗漏或者听错的情况。希望参加该活动的其他申请人看到本帖也能回复补充，如有错误也请回复指出，不胜感激。申请哪个学校应该把该校的官网研究透彻，另外ChaseDream上也有很多内容非常有帮助。具体信息请查阅学校官网做最终确认。闲话少说，进入正题。
1. The Fuqua Experience
(1) Diversity of people, diversity of experience, winning the right way, moving teams forward Firstly, AO introduced the diversity of people, diversity of experience, and those who had different backgrounds had different transference before and after their MBA. The important thing at Fuqua is attracting and training a new kind of business leaders. They look for people that they thrive on difference and collaboration, and that they really want to work with other students by sharing their values. The students of Fuqua come from different countries with different cultures. They look for people who really have keen analytical minds and who come from non-profits, consulting, marketing, military and financial sectors. They will not select the students with the same backgrounds, who have the same career path and are to do the same thing. They don’t think it would help your learning if everybody thinks the same and they are susceptive the same. The diversity really helps your thoughts and helps you to open your mind to different ways ofthinking. They look for foreign students that they will see how you have been involved in the past, and that they think that you are going to be open receptors and collaborators with the diverse culture, and that they think you are trying to take advantage of the opportunities that you are given to become a better leader. They admire leaders who can adapt well, and they think that the long-term success comes from knowing many different aspects of business and knowing how to play different roles on teams and every career stage. Therefore, they teach you not only want to be a leader, but also know how to lead and take it back on many other things. Secondly, AO talked about winning the right way. She said that the Fuqua graduates had the commitment of making changes. They would do the right things even though they were complicated, and they have the courage to do the tough things. Thirdly, AO talked about moving teams forward. Their culture is based on Team Fuqua. Team Fuqua is that everybody helps each other and everybody actsas a team, and together you can go further than you try it alone.
(2) Duke and Durham Durham is not the metropolis as New York and San Francisco. Duke is actually on the east coast of the US, may be an hour flight to NewYork and a very close driving distance to Washington DC. There are a lot of outdoor activities that you can do in Duke. For example, in North Carolina, there are a lot of cycling, running. It is not a large city like Beijing and New York, but it is a great city. There is Durham Baseball Park. Along the river, you can go hiking. There are lots of different foods and different cultures. There are always new restaurants to try. Durham is called the city in medicine, because it has the major healthcare industry with more than 300 medical and healthcare companies.

2. Duke Daytime MBA (1) Full-Time MBA Program | 2 Years Team-Based Learning: You will be grouped in a small team, about 4 - 5 individuals with different backgrounds. You will also be put into sections and each section will be 70 people. Co-Curricular Experiences: There are a lot of clubs and organizations you can belong to, and you can share the world experiences with them. Global Opportunities: They have different global opportunities for you to travel and to get different experiences outside the US or outside China.
(2) Business Core Curriculum and 100+ Electives Their curriculum is general management curriculum, so it is not finance focused or marketing focused. They have over 100 electives that you can choose to learn according to your interests and there are six-week terms to go over the schedule on this content. They have 11 Concentrations and two degree certificates - HealthSector Management (HSM) Certificate and Academic Excellence in Finance.

3. The Application Process (1) Academics The academics can be GMAT, GRE, GPA or all of them. A new data shows that GMAT score of 80% Fuqua applicants ranges from 640 to 750. Duke has no preference in terms of GRE and GMAT and both are valued equally. If your GMAT is not high enough, you can try it again. AO also mentioned that people from China had very high GMAT scores records. They do not require the TOFEL or IELTS grades. Furthermore, Your English skills will be evaluated on your application, your essays and the interview, so if you feel your English is not very good, practice!
(2) Work Experience In terms of work experiences, Duke focuses not on the quantity but on the quality. They will see if you have done significant work and your management experience. The management experiences AO talked about are managing people, managing budgets and managing large projects. What did you do in a team work? Have you failed and how you face it? They want to see your ability of discovering and solving problems. Of course, the more famous of your previous company, the better for your application.
(3) Leadership and Involvement There are many things you should think about. How you have been involved in your community, in your undergraduate, at work and at play? In your unversity, do you take on leadership roles in your involved clubs? You work in the community, whether you do the work outside, on the church or tier organization or not? Since university, have you continued to be involved? But this only shows your involvement.
(4) Essays The essays will be short answers to what your goals are and make sure your goals make sense as they are clear, as they are specific. You put your goal in your application, and you can’t change your goal in the latter process. Duke wants to know why you want MBA, and why you passionate in switching your career to another. You can tell them your background and the reason why you want tochange your career to another, but you should make sure that it makes sense. They want to see “Are you funny, are youartistic, do you have passion for something, and are you dare to take risks?” That is based on be yourself and show your personality.
Optional essay It is an opportunity for you to explain something additional, such as unexplained gaps in work, choice ofrecommenders, inconsistent or questionable academic performance. The Optional essay should be limited to one page. The essay is not a place to repeat your goals, your resume or something like that.
(5) Resume The resume should be a one-page resume.
(6) Recommendation It should be professional recommendation. Current immediate supervisor is great. If you can’t find a current immediate supervisor, a colleague or former supervisor from your current company is also great, or from your former company. Professors are not good recommenders, because we have already seen your transcripts, your GMAT and GPA, and they really can’t emphasize the questions that are involved on our recommendation form. Recommendations from relatives and friends are strongly discouraged. The premise is professional or somebody who can say how you work, how you work with others, what your leadership abilities are like, what your thinking is like, and the other people’s experience working with you.
(7) Interview When you come to campus for an interview, the second-year student will interview you. If you are selected to interview at one of othert imes, they also have interview hubs in Beijing, Shanghai and Taipei twice a year. They encourage international applicants to apply in the Early Action, Round 1 and Round 2,n ot Round 3, because there isn’t enough time to get your visa. Early application means you are committed to coming to Duke, you have done your research, if you are invited, you can get a deposit and you can come.
4. Questions & Answers (1) AO mentioned that applicants can have additional recommendations from on-campus students, and those recommendations can say the person will fit their culture and they know the person’s past. They recommend you, so you can get a fee waiver for the application fee, 225 dollars.
(2) For people who work for family business, they may use a client as recommender. That will be very helpful.
(3) Q: What information do you want to know about my application during the interview? A: The people who interview you only have your resume. If you interview in hubs, here such as Beijing, Shanghai, the representatives who interview you will get your resume. Q: All the questions will bebased on the resume? A: The questions will be around the resume. They will talk about your work history. They will see how well you can present yourself. They talk much about your experiences, about your resume around your person, and a lot of questions around your personality and your culture.
(4) Q: Is there any requirement or suggestion for re-applicants? A: I want everybody to think that reapplication is not a bad thing. I have seen someone apply four or five times and get in. It may be your work history, your involvement, your GMAT and so on, but we concentrate on what you changed, what you improved, whether you get promoted, whether you have involved in more work, or in the community and whether you improved your GMAT? Please show that in your application to us. What’s more, the requirement for re-applicants is to complete the re-applicant essay.
