Hello there! So, first off, not having all of those AMAZING stats that some of the other people have doesn't mean you can't get an MBA in the U.S. It just means you won't be able to compete at the tippity top levels. But there are plenty of other schools outside of the Top 30 where, if you make the right moves, you will have a chance.
The things that worry me in your profile right now are the TOEFL score and the fact that you're about to take off a year of work. These two things could definitely hold you back if you don't handle them properly. In regards to the TOEFL, we gotta get that score up a bit, if we can. Yes, there are schools that will accept you with your current score, but it is going to be MUCH better for you on a variety of levels if you increase your command on English. The good news is, if you're in Australia, you will be speaking English a LOT more than you probably do now, so you'll be able to practice naturally in your daily life. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT! Make sure you're speaking, reading and writing in English EVERY day. Then re-take the TOEFL before you apply.
Beyond that, we need to do something about that work gap. Business schools don't like to see gaps in employment; especially the year before someone matriculates. Why did you decide to stop working? And what do you plan to do during this year off? We gotta make that year off look productive, so that's something to start thinking about...and quickly!
Hope that helps!
Best,
