速报！马里兰(UMD) MSF可转STEM！

今天刷微信得知，UMD商院计划在17年summer通过并成立新项目Master of Quantitative Finance，而17fall的MSF学生可以选择转到这一项目。
目前官网已更新项目信息，MQF相比MSF更注重数学技能，并且会学习Python和R。最重要的是MQF属于STEM项目，拥有长达36个月的OPT。
看来MSF的offer holders又要陷入新一轮的纠结了。。。

官网信息如下：

In December 2016, the president of the University of Maryland, College Park, approved the proposal to create a 36-credit STEM certified Master of Quantitative Finance (MQF) program. We are in the process of obtaining further approval from the University of Maryland System Regents and the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) and anticipate receiving approval by summer 2017. Subject to MHEC approval, incoming MFIN fall 2017 students are expected to be able to convert to the STEM certified MQF program, if they so desire.

The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business will begin offering the Master of Quantitative Finance (MQF) program with classes starting in fall 2017. This specialty finance master’s degree is designed for students who aspire to enter into mathematically complex fields such as risk management or institutional asset management. We anticipate that the MQF will be one of the most rigorous, career-beneficial degrees of its kind in the Washington, D.C., area.
