TWE165 You have decided to give several hours of your time each month to improve the community where you live. What is one thing you will do to improve your community? Why?

Upon to the question, my community needs to be improved a lot. It needs more entertainment for kids, more employee opportunities for adults, more activities for elders, and so on. From all these things needed for my community, adding elders' activities is the most important one, because most elders are retired and have nothing to do at home right now. They need something to spend their time. So, the one thing I will do to improve my community is to teach those elders how to use computer.

To begin with, the main reason for my propensity for teaching them computers is that, computer is the major tool used for daily life today. It is a machine which contains the highest science and technology, but is easy to use. Most computer programs are disigned for new users, as "Microsoft Word" and "Microsoft Excel". If I could teach the elders to use those programs properly, they will feel more convenient than ever. They may use computer to write letters or their diaries instead of using paper. They may use computer to draw a diet chart instead of remember it every day. Also, they may use computer to make an alarm on medicine taken instead of bothering others to remind them.

Continuing with my second reason for teaching the elders computers is that, they could obtain a lot imformation from computer through internet. Internet is now the number one using tool for gaining imformation, but most elders do not know how to use it. I am going to teach them a few easy steps for going through internet. They may not be able to go far for a trip anymore, but they still will find out how other countries look like and how beautiful the world is by using internet.

Furthermore, the entertainment played by computer is another reason for me to teach them useing computers. According to the internet access, there are a lot of music, chat, and other fine stuffs available. What could the elders do, enjoy the classic songs, chat with friends who are far away, or play those exciting computer games? Thay could do all.

Therefor, it is easy for me to make my decision that I will teach those elders how to using computers for improving my community. Although other options are also useful for my community, the elders should have their convenience and fine first. They worked all their lives for us and have nothing to cheer when they are old, we should do something for them right now. To let them have the ability of using computer will be the best one we could do.
