The reading passage lists three reasons to support that professors, universities and the public can benefit from the activities professors show on TB. However, the lecture negates the opinions by analyzing who really benefit from the activities.

First, the passage makes a point the professors who appear on television benefit from what they are doing, such as getting reputation and sharing opinions with a large quantities of audience. The lecture points out that the professors who show on TV are those fellow professors, who may don't have opportunities to attend serious academic conferences and who may don't have money to do real research work. Those professors share their opinions with the audience, which are not professional. Those professors might get less opportunities on their academic progress after their TV show.

Second, the passage say that universities benefit from the shows. But the lecture questions that the professors take too many time for the show, their original time for university affairs will be cut down, such as meeting with students and discussion. The universities will loose the professors' contributions and commitment on academic aspects, so the activities are really harm for universities.

Finally, the passage considers the public will learn a lot from professors on TV. However the lecture figures out what professors talk on a TV program could be gain from a TV reporter who just did enough homework, because the professors can only provide some background and brief content about such serious topic in limit time. So the public don't really gain something.

To summarize, the lecture stands on the opposite ground to the passage. After the lecture analyzing, we know no body really benefit from the activities. The professors should do what their profession assumes to do and every body will benefit from this kind of nature.

“Young people enjoy life more than older people.”

I would like to say the way in which young people and older people enjoy life is different and disagree with the statement that young people enjoy life more than older people do.

First, some people may say that the younger will be more alert to new things and new things may lead to more fun. From some aspects, that is right. For example, when the new mobile phone enters into the market, the younger people might be the pioneers to try the new functions on that phone and they may feel the big joy before some older people. However, older people might be slower to learn new things, but they are also eager to learn with their own pace. You can see there are a lot of old people in China today to use Weichat to communication, even though it is the newest way to communication and based on high technologies.

Second, you may consider young brains are more creative. But I cannot agree with this point. The older people will be more wise because they have experienced a lot and might have more insight in their expertise area. There is a research report that tells the group of people who have passed fourty is much more innovative than the group of people who are in their twenties. I have one friend who has been as an engineer before his fourty, accumulated a lot ot products design knowledge, and  transfered successfully to be a enterpreteur after his fourty and create a special way to win the market. The older people can also put this innovative power into their daily lives, making their lives more enjoyable. For example, you can see a lot elders dance, sing and do some creative exercise in the morning park.

Finally, the older people have accumulate knowledge about sociaties and about life. They know more about what should be cherished and what should be abandoned. Based on those knowledge, they might live in a easier status. On the opposite, the young people might spend a lot time to think what they should pursue, what are their real interests and what are their goals. By contrast, you will find that young people live in a more struggling status.

To summarize, my opinion is the young and the older may have different ways to have fun and to enjoy their lives. It is very hard to distinguish whose way is more enjoyable. The young and the older have their own age advantages -- the young are more energic and have courages to try failure and the elder are more knowledgeable to live wisely. If the two group of people can understand each other more, they both can enjoy their lives more.

The passage lists three possibilities that might be the reasons to cause the sea cow's extinction. The professor of the lecture just casts doubts on those reasons and negates all the three reasons.

First, the passage says that the sea cows may be overhunted by that native Siberian people and the overhunting should be the main cause of sea cows' extinction. However, the professor clearly states that Since the population of Siberian people is very small and the sea cow had a very large body, which could feed those people for months, the native Siberian people could hunt some of sea cows, but could not kill all of them. This reason can't stand.

Second, the passage considers some ecological changes might cause the food shortage of sea cows and this shortage might be counted for the extinction. The professor takes other marine animals into consideration and challenge the passage's reasoning that why other marine animals haven't been affected by the assumed ecological changes. The professor's logic is right. All marine animals should be affected by the same environment changes, so this reason is a failure.

Finally, the passage thinks the fur traders should be responsible for the extinction because the timing of their arrival at the island was so connected to the extinction. But the lecture lists that before the traders' hunting action, the number of sea cows had declined to a limited one.

To summarize, the professor claims that there should be something secret beyond the three reasons, which should be the real key to solve the puzzle about sea cows' extinction.

“Educating children is a more difficult task today than it was in the past because they spend so much time on cell phone, online games, and social networking Web site.

What high technology brings changes to children education recently is a tough question for all parents and educators. Whether the education work gets harder, because children can easily access online games and social web site, is an arguable issue.

Some people might think that if children can play games by themselves, parents might have more time to work on other things. It is a kind of relief for parents. Some people might count on internet could help children on their homework and study, and support educating children is much easier now because the high technology brings so much convenience. I admit those advantages the high technologies bring to people, but everything has two sides. Just think about it, the negative affects that high technologies lead to make education more difficult recently.

First, electronic games are addictive. Children who once lost control to play those game will hardly get rid of them. I used to read a news that one teenager kept playing games in some one public bar for days and died suddenly. The addiction of games is totally harm to children. But it is also hard for parents to strictly control children keep distance from playing games, and over limiting would cause children to act more secretly and cause unexpected results. My suggestion is parents should monitor children's actions, which means allowing children to play sometimes but under parents' control. This control degree is very hard to handle.

Secondly, there are various contents on internet. Children are always fast learners. They can easily master those searching tools, which can help them find whatever materials they want. Those contents might be just suitable for adults. When children contact those content at the earlier age, they are not mature enough to treat those content, such as sex and violence, and might teach them to act too aggressive. From this angle, we can see the dangerous aspect of what high technology results in.

To summarize, even though high technologies bring a lot of convenience to people's daily life and help children to learn some knowledges and skills more quickly, parents and educators have to spend more time to monitor children's action, to guide children to build up the capabilities of use those technologies right, and to balance the controlling of access right for children to the internet. It is harder for parents and educators now to fulfill the educating tasks.
