两道概率题比较

The probability that Tom will win the Booker prize is  0.5, and the probability that John will win the Booker prize is 0.4. There is only one Booker prize to win. What is the probability that at least one of them wins the prize?  （这题答案是0.7）

The probability that event M will not occur is 0.8 and the probability that event R will not occur is 0.6. If events M and R cannot both occur, which of the following is the probability that either event M or event R will occur?
A) 1/5 B) 2/5 C) 3/5 D) 4/5 E) 12/25（0.6）

这两道题目意思一样，为什么做法不同？

这两题实际上不一样啊。。第二个是互斥事件 M和R不同时发生 但总有一个发生 要么M要么R
但是第一题 也有可能T和J都不获奖啊。。

另外，第一题你看不像互斥事件吗？

不像啊。。互斥是除他俩以外没有别的。。题里又没说除了他俩没有别人可能获奖。。

我感觉你对互斥事件的理解有问题
看百度百科的定义
1、互斥事件定义中事件A与事件B不可能同时发生是指若事件A发生，事件B就不发生或者事件B发生，事件A就不发生。如，粉笔盒里有3支红粉笔，2支绿粉笔，1支黄粉笔，现从中任取1支，记事件A为取得红粉笔，记事件B为取得绿粉笔，则A与B不能同时发生，即A与B是互斥事件。

即使你的理解没错，你看第二题，题目交代了M事件、R事件，按你的逻辑，也有可能有X事件没有交代
