【原创】Columbia Business School Essays 2017 vs 2016对比分析

ColumbiaBusiness School已经公布了2017年入学的essays题目。

l  题目没有变化。1个short answer，3个essays

l  字数要求放宽，两篇essay都各放宽了250字的篇幅。

n  work related篇幅更多，去年是500+250+250=总1000字，work-Related占3/4，今年是750+500+250=总1500字，workrelated占5/6

ShortAnswer Question:

What is your immediate post-MBAprofessional goal? (51 characters maximum)

Examples of possible responses:

“Work in business development for a media company.” (49个字符)

“Join a strategy consulting firm.”

“Launch a data-management start-up.“

l  51 characters max VS 50characters max

l  放宽了1个字符。1个字符意味着什么？一个空格、一个句号、一个连接符。

l  CBS想要快、狠、准的知道你MBA毕业后想要从事什么样的工作。

Essay1:

Through your resume and recommendations, wehave a clear sense of your professional path to date. What are your careergoals going forward, and how will the Columbia MBA help you achieve them? (100-750 words)

l  750 words VS 500 words：在整个package中的占比没有变化。

l  多250个字。这是一篇比较典型的careergoal essay。问了career goal、why MBA、why CBS。相较于去年，给了更多的篇幅，让申请人可以更好的诠释职业目标的逻辑性。

Essay2:

Columbia Business School’s studentsparticipate in industry focused New York immersion seminars; in project basedMaster Classes; and in school year internships. Most importantly, our studentsare taught by a combination of distinguished research faculty and accomplishedpractitioners. How will you take advantage of being “at the very center ofbusiness”? (100-500 words)

l  500 words VS 250 words：在整个package中的占比从1/4提升到1/3。

l  多250个字。这像是一篇whyschool，又是一篇已经设定了范围的why school，即如何为career goal服务。目的在于了解申请人是否真的可以在CBS如鱼得水，是否对CBS MBA program足够了解，是否已经对未来的两年学习有所规划。

Essay3:

CBS Matters, a key element of the School’sculture, allows the people in your Cluster to learn more about you on apersonal level. What will your Clustermates be pleasantly surprised to learnabout you? (100-250 words)

l  字数不变，但整个package中的占比从1/4下降至1/6。

l  题目中“pleasantlysurprised”，又惊又喜。“惊”代表一段经历的特殊性、代表一个才能、兴趣爱好的出众性。“喜”代表clustermates是喜闻乐见的，是对他们有贡献的。
