taking a gap year is not a problem, and you have a nice plan for the year, but I don't think this will help your application much.
the most important boosting to your profile for a better MFE is...........getting more advanced maths course (I guess you has a finance major, right?), and a higher GPA in them, and show more programming skills (through accreditated way, instead of saying I know XXX, YYY)
GRE is nothing at all, a next to full score in GRE Q is something expected, and won't add mark to your profile.
Your internship background (one commercial bank + one securities firm) don't sounds to be a problem, and thus it seems to be your academic background restricting you to get a better MFE.
=> one vote to go to Rutgers since you want a job in US (since STEM).
Given that you were applying to both MSF, and MFE at the same time, it is very clear that you don't have a solid idea about their difference, and most likely no solid idea about your targeted division. |
