题目说，

在其他情况相同下，[人均实际个人可支配收入]每增长1%，就会使得在职者（总统）在竞选中增加2.2个百分点份额。1952年，大选年期间，个人可支配收入出现了下降，且那年在职总统竞选失败。

题目的方向就是要把[竞选]和[个人可支配收入]联系起来，ABC显然无关，D貌似有关，但是说的是另外一种影响大选的经济因素。

E虽然没有直接提到[个人可支配收入]，但说除了the ideological positions of the candidates外还有其他因素，也就点到了[个人可支配收入]影响作用。
