The government has put forward a proposal to build a monument or statue to memorize a famous person in our countries. Not surprisingly, people may have totally different ideas about the person whose monument or statue should be built. As far as I am concerned, I would strongly recommend the monument be built to honor and memorize Mr. Deng Xiaoping, the chief designer of China’s modern economic construction.
First and foremost, Mr dengxiaoping is important because he guided China’s economic system transition from planned economy to market economy. Gone are the days when there is only backward infrastructure, limited supply of goods and equipment and dilapidated facilities. On the contrary, China’s economy has been brought back to the right track, marked with sufficient competition, improved productivity, and adequate imports and exports from the world. All these changes are closely associated with Mr. Dengxiaoping, who navigates China, one of the biggest power engines of the world, to develop in the optimized position.
Mr Dengxiaoping is also particularly important for his endeavors on the development of Shenzhen, the most successful benchmark of China’s special economic zone, which brings China to the world spotlight. Now as a Shenzhen citizen, I am very proud of the achievement of Shenzhen and the Pan- Pearl River regions. Mr Dengxiaoping is right at the center of the development with his unparalleled vision.
Last but not least, Mr Dengxiaoping has brought China’s status to a historically high level, especially with Hongkong’s reunification to China mainland. HK’s successful reunion with China, to no greater extent, is attributed to the efforts and strategies on which Mr Dengxiaoping has devoted much energy.
For all the above reasons, I would greatly advocate a monument be built in memory of Mr Dengxiaoping. Admittedly, there are so many other important figures in the history of China, but the achievement made by Mr Dengxiaoping greatly dwarfs that of other famous persons. |
