我知道这个应该发在语法区可是那里完全没人理，我三天后考试只能贴到这里希望好心人帮助了！！谢谢

但是 brain growth in mice为什么没有冠词啊？

LZ觉得为什么要用the呢……这里并没有对brain growth做出什么限定啊，如果像D选项一样，the brain growth后面用when引导的条件状语从句对growth限定了，就不符合逻辑了，brain只有在stimulating environment中才grow，出了这种环境就停止生长了嘛？可是growth是一个无法停止的过程诶～

这道题应该是三个名词并列Parallelism。Production，growth and increase. 先不管brain growth 前面是否有the。但从三个名词并列的角度排除选项A，B，C.
D是平行结构，然而D前半句 the brain growth in mice when placed in a stimulating environment 。这里placed是指brain growth 还是 mice，指代不明。
E无上述问题。

句子结构：Recently documented examples of neurogenesis... include A or B.  "the production of new brain cells"作为同位语解释了neurogenesis.
A. 如果动词有了它对应的名词，尽量避免creat the complex gerund; 会产生"when the brain growing is placed in..."的歧义；而且和or后面的成分也不平行；
B. 看同位语的解释，就知道examples应该是brain growth和an increase in nureons, 而不是mice和canaries;
C. they的指代有问题;
D. or前面的和A一样会产生歧义; 后面的they指代nureons不合逻辑;
E. 正确，brain growth和an increase in nureons无论是意思还是结构上都和"the production of new brain cells"平行(毕竟是栗子嘛，总体方向还是要随从老大);that从句对mice和canaries进行限定。
p.s. 做语法题不要过于纠结于微小的细节，应该比较各个选项，把更明显错误的选项排除，选择最佳的~

为什么我觉得是因为when只能修饰句子中的动词做状语，不能用作定语修饰名词呢？
