make sense. 但是我一直不太理解comma+ing modifier的用法。比如I took extra classes every year,graduating from college 2 years ago. 这样的话graduating和主句主语有相关。而这道题为什么ing不是和主句主语geologists 相关，我知道这样想就没有正确答案了

有些东西根据逻辑明明没有歧义，你非要按照错误的逻辑去理解就不是写句子的人错，是你自己的错误。
此题，明显 traveling most rapidly through cold, dense regions and more slowly中traveling的逻辑主语只能是seismic waves而不可能是geologists，那为什么还要错误的理解呢？
比如：I hold a bird in my right hand and a book in my left hand, and it suddenly flies away.
你说书能飞还是鸟能飞？这个句子中it指代有歧义吗？
你举例这个句子好像有点问题: I took extra classes every year,graduating from college 2 years ago
graduating from college 2 years ago既不能表达伴随，也没有结果的意思。不是任何两个动词都可以在不考虑相互逻辑意思的前提下，组合在一起的。
如果这句话是：I took extra classes every year,graduating from college in 2 years.这是可以的，graduating from college in 2 years做结果状语，伴随took，逻辑主语是I，表示了took extra classes every year的结果：我2年就毕业了。
抛开这道题，如果逻辑上说的通可以用吗？我随便改一下
